Marking the beginning of a year-long series of programmes commemorating the thirtieth-year anniversary of Para Site’s founding, 'Site-seeing' departs from an exhibition of the same name that was presented in 1996, the first year of Para Site’s operation. Extending the original exhibition’s exploration of urban space, memory, and art-making, the 2026 iteration of “Site-seeing” brings together commissioned and recent works by several international artists from the Asia-Pacific region and beyond. Viewed together, the works address the present-day context where urban cities — especially Hong Kong and the broader “Greater Bay Area”, which includes cities such as Shenzhen, Guangzhou, and Zhuhai — face large-scale, near-constant redevelopment. Through installation, moving image, and sculpture, the works parse how the malleability of our cities shape our contemporary experience, mediating our collective memories, desires, and anxieties within these shifting spaces. This exhibition is organised by Junni Chen and Yuanyu Li.
