[ET Net News Agency, 4 November 2024] Half-day turnover of Hong Kong stocks was
HK$63.93 billion, with short-sales accounting for HK$5.88 billion, or 9.2% of the market's
turnover. There were 627 short-selling stocks. XIAOMI-W (01810) and ICBC (01398) saw
higher value of short sales, accounting for HK$388.32 million and HK$357.31 million, or
6.6% and 6.07% of the total short sales value respectively. The transactions represented
16.8% and 40.19% of respective stock's turnover.
BABA-W (09988) and TENCENT (00700) registered HK$244.6 million and HK$194.35 million of
short sales, accounting for 4.16% and 3.3% of the total short sales values respectively.
The transactions represented 15.85% and 7.86% of respective stock's turnover.
XIAOMI-W closed up HK$0.15, or 0.55%, to HK$27.45. ICBC ended flat, to HK$4.75. BABA-W
rose HK$1, or 1.05% to HK$96. TENCENT declined by HK$0.8, or 0.19%, to HK$418.4.
